The Irish Lotto is immensely popular in Ireland and has been running since 1988. It’s played twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday evening,
at 20:00 (bets can be placed up until 19:50).
The game’s current form is as a 6/47 lottery where six balls, numbered from 1 to 47 are drawn from the pot, plus a seventh bonus ball.
There are three draws to bet on each Wednesday and Saturday evening, the Main Lotto Draw, then the Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 draws that follow right after.
All three draws work the same way, with 6 balls and a seventh bonus ball drawn from 47.
How do I bet on Irish Lotto?
To place an Irish Lotto bet, first decide how many numbers you want to bet on. You can pick from 1 to 5 numbers, between 1 to 47. The more numbers you pick,
the longer your Irish Lotto odds become, but the higher the pay out. Bet on 1 number and your odds will be 6/1. Bet on all five, and your odds will be 125,000/1.
After picking your numbers, decide which draw you want to bet on. Pick between the
Wednesday or the Saturday draws, or both. Choose the main draw each night, or the Plus 1 or Plus 2 draws, or a combination of all three.
Then pick whether you want to add the bonus ball to your bet too. This increases the chances of you getting a winning number, lowering your Irish Lottery odds,
but will reduce your return.
Set your stake for each draw. You’ll see your odds, plus your Total Stake and Total Return if you win.

This means if you bet £1 on five balls, and five are drawn out of the six, you’ll win £125,001.
